I like mine because it's got a great head, but I'm yet to see my 'happy ending'. It's also got a good exhaust note, more like the Nissan L18 with Webers.

Registration laws also mean I can't use a SR20DET.

For under $2000 of SR engine parts you can easy have a 350hp monster. Costs double or triple that for a CA18. Unless you fluke getting a shop-modified second hand one from Japan on a pallet.

YES! --it sounds like my old 510 with the open exhaust --just faster now.

I am really impressed the CA18det. It revs freely, makes good power and so far seems rock solid. ( after some teething issues from my poor mechanical skills) -

-Main reason I went with the CA is for AutoX/Track days/Time trials --the SR's had a reputation for cooling issues. The iron Block--although lighter than the SR seemed like it would take abuse better.

Initial cost is/was lower --but you have to search (although not much farther than this forum) for some aftermarket "go fast" parts

Mine pulls like a train from about 3800-7500rpm. Thats certainly nice. The SR'd 240sx's Ive ridden in just dont give me the same "whoa crap" factor. Even when they made more power (supposedly, mine hasnt been on a dyno in 4 years). Some parts are a little hard to find, but I really cant complain. Its not like trying to find FJ20 parts.

I haven't ridden in an SR powered S13 for a while. I need to see how they compare.

Wasnt impressed. I rode in a ka24de-t and it stomped pretty well until it threw a rod. That pretty much convinced me otherwise. You know I have never ridden in a non-turbo 240sx?

Don't see what would make a ca18 any more expensive than an sr20.Loads of 300-330hp CAs on stock innards & bolt-on turbos.Excellent power, 400+ even with stock intake & hydraulic inlet cam.Working on nissans suk vs say a mitsu. CA easier than SR or KA imo tho. Removing stock turbo in a left hand drive car is a pita. Pulling the head insitu (with that long s13 engine bay) is no picnic either.old CAs with worn bearings/sloppy clearances will likely spin a rod bearing when you start beating on 'em.A healthy CA is durable, hella fun and acceleration is surprising

Here are some reasons not to use ebay manifolds

Used from July to September. Other than being cheap it had no reason to break. It was only holding the stock t25 turbo, and my down pipe is equipped with a mesh basket. The ebay seller as promised to give a full refund when I sent it back to him.
