I know this has been covered before, but I cant find the thread where it was talked about. It seems that I have ofered the wrong water pump for my DET. The pulley sticks out farther than the stock DET pump. If my memory serves me correctly, I ordered this pump for an 88 pulsar nx se last year, and come today, I realize its not the right one.

what pump do I need, or should I just get my old stock pump glass beaded and call it a day?

it sticks out farther becuase you have the pulley on backwards.

the ca18de pump or the ca18det pump will both work, with the appropriate pulley. the only diffence to the pulley is the daimeter of the locating hole in the center.

na man that pulley was just on there backwards for picture taking purposes. I threw it on hand tight one night cause my friend was taking pics.

pretty sure I have the wrong pump, its not much different than my DET, but it is.

well then they sent you the wrong pump. just go to autozone, ask for a pump for a 85 200sx with soch turbo. its usually in stock, under $50, and has a lifetime warranty.

Yeah, '84-'86 200sx turbo with ca18et are identical to the ca-det water pump. My '84 pump bolted up and works just fine

i used the sohc turbo water pump but i had to grind some of my front upper timing cover plate off because there was a notch on the et one that was longer than the det one.

just my experience. other than that, exactly identical water pumps.

Also look at the impeller design of the FWD pump vs the RWD SOHC turbo pump. The turbo pump has a MUCH better impeller design.
