ok...i searched and didnt find anything....so what do you all think are the pro's/con's on these 2...*KA24E-sohc...remember that*

questions i would like answered:better fuel economycheapereasier to install/work onmore dependable

and i realize if i buy the ca instead of the sr, i will have some extra cash so i would probably go ahead and do a FMIC or bigger turbo as my first mod.

Both engines are are good. I was going to build up my KA-E for turbo use but I went out and bought a CA instead.

Both engines are dependable and easy to work on. Parts for the CA are easy to get ahold of than say an SR.

You can get a spare KA or CA motor cheap. Since the CA came in the pulsars over here.

As for fuel economy, id say the CA might get better MPG since it is a smaller motor.

The KA will be an even more torque monster once its boosted, on stock internals and around 9 psi, its simply amazing.

My CA at 7 psi cant even keep up with my friends 98 KA at 9 psi.

If you do get the CA, the first thing you should do is replace the dying turbo thats on it right now, if its still stock. My turbo seals are gone and it burns oil like crazy when im at a stop light or idling for a long time.

i am leaning more towards a CA right now....when purchasing 1, are they same vendors that sell sr's good and respectable for the CA...or where is a good place to buy 1?

Id assume so. The companys reputation would be at stake if they sold you a bad motor. Whether it would be a RB, SR or CA.

I got mine from Prolink in Miami thru Boost Boy. Great engine and super clean. Talk to Dee (boost boy) he would know some of the good places to get some CA's.

The main reason that made me go with the CA over the KA was the fact that it doesnt cost that much and its over built for such a little engine.

I saved the money I would be spending on building the KA up. Even though the KA would be fast, im not going all out racing so it was rather pointless to me wasting so much money and time.

Well, as someone who ws going to do a CA swap (I even bought the engine...and would have done it if things had worked out) and is now building a KAT...I can tell you that there are tradeoffs with both, they are both excellent engines, and neither of them is perfect :) The downfall of the CA is it's size...a place where the KA really shines. BUT, the CA revs better...which the KA doesnt do as well. They both are very sturdy iron block engines that have most parts readily available in the US...there is a bit more wiring work with the CA but nothing too hard. IMO, you cant go wrong with either choice ;) Oh, but for boosted duties, I would strongly consider rebuilding a KA with beefier parts. One last good thing about a built KA is that you know the engine is in good condition once you rebuild it...with a CA unless you rebuild it you never know what happened to it over in Japan :(

True, I decided that to get the engines up to the same level (right around 300hp) would cost about the same and I didn't want to have to deal with the hassle of buying an engine (I got my KA out of the junkyard...it was quick, it was easy, it was in great condition). I've had two attempts at buying imported engines go bad now (my horrid CA experience and my annoying RB experience) and just didnt want to deal with it again. I hope you dont think I'm trying to dissuade you from the CA, its a wonderful engine and if I could go down and buy it from a place in town without any real hassle or being gauged on the price, I would have done that instead...but that just wasnt an option so at least now I KNOW that this stupid car will run sometime soon. I was supposed to have a running CA about 3 months ago...good luck!

The guy from JGY customs hangs out on the forums I think...Pampadori if I remember right :) My biggest advice is not to buy from an individual (trust me, I know this firsthand). Any of the shops listed have proven to be trustworthy and most of the time sell quality motors. Good luck!
