I just refreshed my motor with bearings, rings, pump, gaskets. I did not touch the head other than to power wash it. When I started it the first time i had some minor clatter from under the intake side valve cover. Well afeter the engine warmed up the clatter went away. I tolk it for a test drive tonight and when I got back the clatter was back. but as the car idled and cooled down the clatter went away

I have a similar problem.. usually happens after an oil change or timing adjustment...I've got a lifter that loses its prime and starts tapping away.. usually this happens when the oil is about or close to a quart low... adding oil and getting the pressure up for a min or two usually makes it stop... its back again, but oil level is ok, but gonna put some engine restore/additive in it (has over 230K miles on it) and see what happens.

Crosses fingers and prays the oil pump isn't about to crap out
