Don't waste the time. The stock CA turbo is too small even for the CA, go with a fresh T28.

yep. Stock ca turbo is junk....t25 sr20 turbo or t28 would be my choices

the t25g that comes from the sr20 is good, and easy to come by for cheap.

The T28 isn't too big. An S14 turbine responds as quick as the teeny CA one.Yes they are Garretts.

from what i understand the t28 is not a bolt on affair or am i mistaken? i don't really want to do any fuel tuning at this point so i think the t25 is a better choice since you can't go much past 15 psi anyways. i'm having a hard time finding a t25. i dont suppose a dsm t25 would work.

For the S14 you will need to loosen the compressor housing and rotate it slightly and file one hole on the CA turbo elbow a bit to clear on of the 14's studs. The colant lines are the same orientation. You should get a stellbraided oil delivery line for the new turbine as the hardline isn't a good match. You will have to bend the oil dump pipe to reorient it for the new turbo. The S14 has a two-bolt flage on the entrance to the compressor whereas the CA is round and receives the inlet hose directly. You will need to get some sort of inlet pipe to bolt onto the turbine so the hose will slide on. It's really just a lot of running around for little bits, I would consider it very bolt on.
