CA18DET turbo selection

What is the stock CA18DET turbo good for? Goals are around 250-300 whp Thinking either a S14 T28, GT28R or GT28RS(disco potato) And if I were to upgrade the turbo would I need a new ECU tune even for just a S14 T28? I don't know a whole lot about the CA18DET but if it follows the same rule of thumb for the SR20DET I will be fine.

step 1 remove stock turbostep 2 throw it as far as you can

The stock turbo is a weak point. I have never seen one that wasn't shredded; it's to small. The S14/15 turbos are great bolt on upgrades that can get you 300hp.

When you put on a T28, make sure you dont run past stock boost without some sort of tune. The t28 will run fine on stock boost, but don't go crazy with it (even though you may want to ) because you will lean out big time.

Best turbo for the CA to hit around 300hp is an s15 28 or GTI R t28. S14 t28 gets the job done too.

Anything higher than a T28 like a GT30 or something is going to cause huge lag and is probly not necessary for your goals.

So for best Bang for my buck a S14 T28 eh? I know the S13 SR t25 is good for around 260 whp, wouldent the S14 T28 be around that or a little more?

The S13 turbo is much smaller than the S14 one.
