i recently purchased a S13 with CA18DET swap, it ran rought and according to the seller it was because the old turbo is just about gone and he included what he said was a turbo off a S14. I get home start tearin through the turbo and look at in and the inlets on both turbos are completely different from eachother heres the stock one see the inlet sticking out so the pipe can connect right?well heres the other one here theres nothing sticking out and its impossible to connect the pipe.am i missing a part or is this turbo just not going to go in?

The S14 turbo uses a two-bolt flange to attach. You can just get an adapter flange, there is bound to be someone who has one lying around. BTW, URLs are case sensitive. Use a .JPG instead of .jpg and the pics will work.

fixed

also there was a tube going from the valve cover to some of the intake piping and its just throwing oil into the intake setup which ends up going into the turbo, is this normal or should i go with a what my friend did to his DSM and get a vacuum tube and reroute the stuff?

At the back of the engine there should be a pipe / tubo coming up from the oil filter mount to the back of the intake side valvecover, this pumps oil (excess pressure maybe?) into the top of the engine for it to trickle back down and lube htings up in general (vs whre it is pressure pumped elsewhere)..

at the front of thei ntake side valvecover there is another opening, this one connects via a hose to the PVC on the back of the intake manifold..

and on the exhaust side there's only one opening in the valvecover, this is supposed to go into the intake piping BEFORE turbo and AFTER MAF/filter. this can cause some oil to get sucked into the intake system, this is what catch cans are for. This is to keep the crankcase from getting pressureized one way or the other (this works in conjunction with the PVC).

is this how you have it hooked up? if your turbo is practically gone you could also be having oil going past the seals there and getting sucked into the intake there..

thanks. would i need a gasket for this too?and for the oil thing it is hooked properly, i got the old setup running till i get the replacement turbo on. would you think i need a oil catch can to keep the intake cleaner? and also it bellows out smoke pretty well while accelerating. and it smells like gas. im guessing its running rich because of the bov which isnt recirculating the air back into the intake. am i right?
