Hey guys, just wondering what fellow ca'ers use for a tune. So far I have a few decent mods. I recently put on a T28 from an s14 silvia, and I want to keep it at stock boost until I can find a tune. I'm on a budget, and just need something fairly simple, but decent for the moment. I just want to be able to run around 10 or 11 pounds. I was thinking an eprom tune, or maybe even getting a dyno shop to play around with it. What do you guys think are my best options here? What do you use? Thanks.

As soon as i can collect the last of the parts need for my power upgrade, i will be going with a Dr Drift eprom from Australia. Apparently Sam, the owner, is a ****ing CA god down there. Highly reccomended on nissansilvia.com. i've talked to him and for 200 bucks shipped to my door i figure i might try that. There are quite a few other eprom chips availible from other know sources for the CA i just can't think of them all right now.

Most guys on here uses some sort of standalone mangement which cost much more for the hardware plus you have to pay someone to tune it after its installed. But without a doubt you will have more room to change your setup for the future with an actual standalone compared to an eprom and probably make a few extra ponies with the standalone.

Also read Boost Boys sticky at the top of the CA forum about tuning that might help you a bit.

Is that the same as these guys??

I plan on going with them (Nis Tune) when I do my upgrade in a few weeks. $349.49 ($400 aud) gets you the chip (you have to install, $50 to ship to them to get installed) plus the tuning software. It adds a USB connection to your stock ECU which allows for

real time tuningconsultdata + diagnostic viewing & logging

Correct me if I am wrong but this looks like a great engine management that's in between piggy backs and standalones. It provides many things that piggy backs can't but barely changes any hardware at all.

Also, does anyone know if it would be possible to get this to work with Ford EDIS system?

Forgot to mention megasquirt costs $250 for the ecu, and another $100-$300 for crap like sensors, wiring harness, yada yada badabig badaboom.

I don't think so, this is his website:

http://www.drdrift.com.au/

Last time i was on his website it wasn't fully completed but dont let that fool you. If you are interested in this guy do some research on http://www.nissansilvia.com. Search out on the technical forum also there should be a few dyno graphs on there with his work.

Really? I always thought that was a scam.....What did it do for you? Do you have an A/F gauge in your car? And don't you have to run like racing gas in it or something?

I can do basic chip burning. AFM changes and injector changes. Anything else I'd have to have the car infront of me on a dyno.

I just went with them, but the computer I sent them was screwed up and wasn't switching a wire to ground to start up the EFI relay - they installed the board and all on it and all, but he was hooking direct power to it (bypassing any relay) and it worked that way...

I've ordered a new ECU for $75 dollars from that oem-surplus.com then I'll have to switch over all the daughter boards etc from the one I have now. I'll let you guys know how it works...

If me and tim can do it, I dont see why you couldnt.

When I first tackled MS I was fresh into the automotive tuning industry not knowing much barely knew how to do an oil change. I just did a lot of research and asked questions to friends.

Read my Megasquirt write up it should be easy enough.

Is their any reason why you want to go FORD EDIS with the nistune system?

But I would assume the answer is no because the system is completly different.

I am running an ebay mines ripoff eprom chip to remove all limiters, and an emanage blue for final tuning... But thinking of going full standalone in the future, for now this works fine.

I have a chip burner and use romeditor, with a socketed JDM ECU. Eventually would like to afford a MegaSquirt and set it up with the 'n'Spark package to control ignition as well, preferably using the stock Nissan CAS cause I don't want to be rigging up Hall Effect sensors to an engine never meant to have them.

I need to update my rom post from texasnissans both there and post it here.

I have haxed a working 64-entry VQ Map JDM ROM, like how the euro guys have done their euro one (but a bit different - not everything in the same place, had to reverse engineer it myself). This lets me run the full VQ Map instead of just the top 52 entries of it.

I'm using KA24E MAF and DSM 450cc injectors, rom tuned for both and RPM and speed limiters raised.
