ca18det transmission Question

ok so my transmission is starting to grind a lil bit and i was wondering does the ka transmission bolt up to the ca bell housing?

yes...it does...so do SR's (5speeeds)

5th gear is the only difference between all the different trannys. CA offers the highest 5th gear. If you get a KA or SR transmission you will get lower revs whille cruising.

so is the lower gear a bad thing or does it really even matter? and if i get the ka transmission will it still rev to 8rpm?

All depends on what YOU think. It's personal choice and completely dependant and what you do with the car...

A lower 5th gear will decrease your cruising rpm and subsequently (afaik) increase your gas mileage.
