hi, ive just done a few tests on my TPS according to the ca18det manual. i have an automatic and its not shifting through the gears properly whenever the car has cooled down.

according the manual the ECU input signal from the TPS should start at approx. 0.5v and then gradually rise to 4.0v as accelerator is depressed. mine doesnt do this, it starts at -11.07 and gradually goes to -7.39v.

also, according the the manual, resistance gradually rises when opening the throttle body manually:

completely released: 1 kohms (mine: 1)partailly depressed: 1-9 kohms (mine: 1-7)completely depressed: 9 kohms (mine: 7.13 is maximum and its meant to reach 9, but doesnt...)

can i safely say my TPS is not working properly? all other tests on the TPS are good, except these two ive mentioned above.

thanks heaps for any help

Are you sure you're on the correct wires? And if so, have you tried adjusting it?

It's completely possible that it's toast though.
