Will a transmission from the z31 5-speed non turbo bolt up to the ca18det with a bellhousing switcharoo? They are both same model number transmission (FS..something..C). I was thinking about swapping the CA into my z31 would lighten up the car pretty good and have a cheap fun high revving motor. Ive seen maxworks adaptor kits to the 90-96 300zx (z32) transmission though.

yes. Last time I checked a vg30et cost like 60 bux and could handle well over 300hp STOCK.

The turbo uses the FS5R30A (strong) which is the same as the z32 transmission with diff gear ratios. And the non turbo uses the FS5W71C (semi strong) same as the CA18DET. I was wondering if anyone specifically used a transmission from a z31 non turbo? seems like its a simple bell housing switch.

If this is true, then I can use my CA18DET gear box on my S12 VG30E bellhousing! (reverse of what you wanted)

Can anyone verify?
