my 240sx has a ca18det when i start it it starts and dies out. it wont hold idle and when i start it and rev it it back fires then dies. i need help bad its my only car.

What happened right before this behavior started or did it never run right?
Go over the motor and wiggle all the plugs to make sure they are tight. Pay special attention to the air flow meter.
Unplug the battery for about ten minutes and then plug it back in. This resets the computer to base and might clear out erroneous correction it made which are now causing trouble.
