OK . so ive been doing alot of research on the web and nico club and nwn b4 i posted this . i even posted on nwn ( dont get me wrong its a great site ) but still no help =[

a couple weeks ago i swaped a ca18det in my 240 which original had a ka24e . after getting it in i pluged in all the harness plugs and grounded everything . when i went to go plug my battery in some how the wires got flopped and i had reversed the polarity . i was dumb and even thou i saw sparks i still pluged it in and left it for about 2 seconds b4 i saw electrical tape melting around the battery connectors . none of the fuses or relays went bad thou .

every one has been telling me to check my fuses *,relays, and grounds but they are all fine .

right now the car will crank over and i get lights in the cabin ( dome light , cluster gauges ) and the radio turns on .

what i dont get is .

fuel pump will not turn on ( we tested and it dose not get 12v at the plug )my cluster indicator lights dont turn on ( handbreak liight , check engine light )my seat belts do not return my turn signals wont turn on

soo here are my questions

1. even thou none of the fuses poped could i have fried anythin ? 2. could my ecu be bad ? and is there a on light on the ecu ? 3. has anyone had a similar problem and if so how did you fix this ?

thanks in advance !

You didn't mention anything about your relays, you may want to start replacing those first before looking at the ECU.

This may help you narrow it down.

Just a side note, one of the most significant warnings in the s13 ca18 fsm is that there not be power to the car when connect, or disconnect the ecm. Also, there is a relay that tells the ecu to turn on with the ignition, and in turn, tells all those guages and crap to come on as well. it's a well hidden relay, but if i remember, it is right next to the ecu. at least it is on my s14 anyway.

im trying to look for that relay ! im not sure if s13 have them . maybe its the egi relay in the fuse box ? idk . tomorrow im gonna double check everything . also there was a blue relay behind my fuse box inside my car, the one on the driver side . does anyone no if that could be it ?

Look in the fuse box by the battery there is a 10amp fuse in there for the power in the ecu and also rewire your plugs under the battery.

Now you just have to rewire the plugs under the battery make sure you use the frsport wiring diagram for the SR thats probably why your not getting any fuel unless ur relay crapped out on you other than that I would use a jumper wire where the fuel pump relay is.

Make sure that you hook up all of your grounds mainly the big one thats on the battery tray to the intake manifold.

so i wired the wires straight together with out the plugs using the frsport sr20 wiring guide and im still getting the same issue.. when i give power directly to the ecu fuse or the fuel pump fuse everything seems to work but the fuel pump.. im guessing this is a upper harness wiring problem ?

It should only be the two plugs under the battery tray. the colors should be black and pink or black and purple

Bad wiring job, my friend. Your problem is not unique, but it's very hard to help you when we can't see the way you have your car hooked up.

Have you checked or changed your relays at all? That would be my next step does the car turn over? and is your car an auto or manual?

See if your ECU works in a good running CA.
