Post

hi guys....im new to the forum...in fact this is the first forum iv joined so im new to the whole world of forums!!!!!though iv read plenty its now time to starting asking questions......i :poke: would like to get a furmula for building a ca18det to handle 350kw atw reliably....i know it can be done :dblthumb: i chose the ca over the sr for block strength mainly amongst other things....so would like to know what will need to be done to achieve this.....
things on the list already are as follows:

godspeed rods with acl bearings and arp bolts
cp or weisco or wassner? pistons 8:5:1 or 9:0:1 ratio @ 83.5 bore
cometic head gasket
arp main studs
block cleand bored and honed
head shaved if needed
crank bearing journals ground if needed
new oil/water pump
560-1000 cc denso or sard injectors?
rising rate fuel regulator
bosh 040 feul pump
..................................................................................................
i would like to know what turbo to use that will give nice linear curve from as low in the rev range as poss and keep pushing through to 8500 rpm also what else should be done to acheive as much torque as poss at 350 kw @ 6400rpm.....thanks guys and keep the ca alive :woot:

Injector-wise, you will probably want to keep to the high end of your spectrum. 750-1000cc/min.

CP pistons are probably your best bet there, but I don't know about wassner so I can't really say. I know CP's are good to over 300whp/ liter, as many members on here have proven.

I am not sure about godspeed anything. I really don't trust their products outside of simple things like intercoolers and oil catch cans. You are welcome to try them (how bad can 2010 manufacturing standards be, right?) but you would probably be the first. So there is that. If you know people who have used them with good results, go for it.

Turbo-wise, check out the garrett GT3582R, 3076R, 3082R, HKS T04Z, Mitsu TD07-25G, etc.

Here some tips I have been through alot with my Ca over the past couple years learning alot. I have arias 9:1 pistons the higher compression will help spool a bigger turbo if thats what you plan to run they are bullet proof as well. I am running pauter X beam forged chrome molly rods with acl bearing's. If you run a cometic head gasket be sure to get the block nd head machined perfectly flat even if it seems to be fine by holding a straight edge next to it Just do it or it will be a slight oil leak. Most of the power is hiding in head work on these motor Porting and polishing is recomended for power levels over 330 ish. along with a bigger cam. If your not worried bout low end so much delete the butterfly system this is a restriction specially if you have head work done. You will be happier with a medium sized turbo trust me i know I went from a turbonetics t3/t04E ceramic ball bearing with only a .48 AR. to a precision 6262 billet wheel ball bearing with a .64 v-band in and out housing . The lag is significant to that of the t3/t04E but it makes up for it in the Top end by far where as the t3/t04E did fall off after 7 the power band on the 6262 Want to keep going into the stratosphere. Water pump make sure it is from Nissan and meant for the det West Covina nissan has them well priced. Delete the mass air flow it is guareenteed to cause tuning issuses no matter what other people tell you converting to map mass air pressure with a air temp sensor is way easier to tune and will make more power. One of the number one thing's that annoys Ca owner's would be turbo manifold selection I have owned two god speed top mount's craked both of them over and over. And one SS Auto chrome whice cracked as well. The one god speed cracked in one week while I was on the Dyno. Number one recomendation have a custom Manifold made or you will have head ach's physically nd literally I have gotten carbon manoxide poisoning from a slight crack in those cheap Manifold's. I had mine custom made out of schedule 10 stainless all tig welded everything V-band definetly the way to go. Good luck with your build.

thanks guys for the replies.....i dont know what the v-band that your talking about is......i will have a search though if you could explain to me also....that would be great......also if i get the head and block machined will i need to shim the cams and get lash caps for the solid lifter?what would have to be done......thanks
