Ok Ok Ok I know a stock exhaust doesn't have any place on a turbo car but I had to get the car going or get it towed I should have my turbo exhaust in a few days. Well I read in the well known "Build a Sivia for $3000 article that the stock exhaust can cause turbo lag. How much turbo lag? The car runs well but sometimes it wants to speed and sometimes it sleeps. I checked for all leaks and found nothing. Could I have the vacuum lines wrong. The whole butterfly system has me a little shook. I have the small lines on the side of the mani circulating to each other and the small line above the turbo not the wastgate line the other one blocked off and the larger one on the side of the manifold blocked off. If anyone has a good picure(real) of there setup that would be great. Also the idle is high about 1200rpm could that be from the exhaust also or something else? Gboro sucks if you can't do it yourself it won't get done.

I need a pic of the vac lines, as your descptrive skill are fail. I can snap a pic at some point, but I know there are some floating around this very forum that show how to route vac lines.

The stock exhaust is fine, you will get a little more lag, but you should be at full stock boost by no later than I'd say 3k (I never drove my CA with a stock turbo or stock exhaust).

No, the idle is because the vac system is real finicky. I have my at 1200RPM as well, and have never really tried too hard to get it back down. I'm used to it after almost 3 years.

LOL I tried.. I have seen a few pics but they were colors of boxes and diffrent color lines. I tried to hook it up best I could without the charcoal canister. I'm just a little concerned about the butterfly valves. At full boost I should be at 3k no wonder it feels like it does. With the full exhaust it When should I see full boost? If it's later in rpms then wouldn't it suck a litle in low end? This is all new stuff to me. Trying to learn as much as I can, I jus don't want to screw things up in the process.

If I'm not mistaken, there's 4 lines there that need to be blocked off and it looks like you only have 3 of them blocked. My advice would be plug that 4th hard line and see if your idle problem persists. Also is the little nipple on the bottom of the throttle body plugged?

Sil40sK, the only reason he would need to block any of this is if hes actually using them. Those lines are just an L shaped bracket that allows for ease of use. If there isn't anything plugged into the empty line on the back of the motor, he doesn't need to plug it.

Oh, sorry man, I thought they were somehow connected to vaccum.

There is a single line on the back of the manifold near the brake booster line connection.

Connect that line directly to the FPR. Unless you're going to do the requisite wiring, solenoid, and vacuum chamber for the butterflies, don't bother trying to hook them up.

Leave the wastegate actuator connected to the front of the turbo and the line you have capped off behind the TB goes to the BOV if you've got one. If you don't, leave it plugged.
