If I wanted a stock ca18det/sr20det swap, what else should I get, at the minimum, in addition to the swap? (the necessities...)

I have 2.5" exhaust (I know atleast 3", but would 2.5" be sufficient for a stock swap?), walbro fuel pump, maybe some better injectors?

I agree with nab. You should maybe also change out gaskets that seem to look bad. but you should stick with stock injectors if your sticking to the stock turbo.

Ah, ok. So just replace regular maintenance things. What about the downpipe and exhaust?

You don't need to replace them when you do a swap, but it's a bit easier just to do things all at once.

The engine doesn't have to be modified... I'm sure it was all stock when it was originally sold off a showroom floor in Japan.

I just got done with my install, and I didnt need a whole lot extra. Granted I got the whole frpnt clip from a '97 180 Type X. I ended up buying a gasket kit, HKS downpipe (HKS b/c of personal pref), and a high flow CATCO cat. Strongly recomend the high flow catalytic converter (has three very small baffles, almost like a straight pipe, but sounds better) and the downpipe.

Since mine was newer, I didn't need to buy the clutch, but you may want to just so you have it just in case u need it.

O, one more thing.

If your engine or clip comes with the downpipe, you dont need to buy one unless you want to, but since mine didnt i bought the downpipe and cat and bolted that to the rest of my stock 240 exhaust. AN AFTERMARKET EXHAUST IS NOT NECCESSARY, ONLY THE DOWNPIPE. If you wanted to you could use the stock cat instead of buying a straight pipe or CATCO cat.

Ok, so downpipe (if the clip doesnt have one) and a high flow cat. Atleast I already have 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust piping. (3" exhuast later though).

I guess it all kinda depends on what comes with the front clip...

So its kinda like replace gaskets, belts, seals, fluids, o2 housing (might as well), downpipe, high flow cat?

If you're going with a CA18, an SR downpipe won't mate to a CA 02 housing. You can get an SR 02 housing (which bolts up fine to the CA turbo) or just have the SR downpipe upper flange cut off, rotated and rewelded on so the bolt holes match up. Or have a custom one bent at an exhaust shop. If you have a front clip this is a moot point as you'll have a matching downpipe.

In addition, CAs didn't come with BOVs. If you want any longevity out of the stock turbo you'd be wise to invest in one.

For an SR you'll need a new radiator, or at the minimum some extra radiator hose and some creative routing. The KA radiator is the same as the CA one.

As with TEDRPS13 you can probably get away with the clutch that comes with your motor but CHECK before installing. It'll never be easier to replace than when the engine's on your garage floor.

Finally, make room in your budget for replacing any old or incompatible hoses.

Ah, I always wondered why I never saw a bov/bpv on a stock ca18 pic. Good info.

And as for the downpipe/o2 housing, yeah, thats why I planned to just get a greddy o2 housing and a greddy mx downpipe.

I hate I'd have to get practice driving manual on a "new" motor. I can drive one if I had too, but I never get practice (matter of fact the last time I practiced was in december 03). :(

My SR20 240SX is my first manual car. I drove some of my friends every once in a while, so I got a LITTLE practice. But after the first day, the fear of stalling out is pretty much gone. I still dont like hills too much, but i manage.

If you are just buying a motor swap, you will also need an intercooler and piping. The KA radiator can work, quite a few people do it. I am actually using the SR radiator.
