ok here it is the engine is basically stock, i have in a bigger intercooler, bov, and i have increased the boost to 12psi. when the car is driving under normal conditions it works fine no problem, however when i drive hard it starts to sputter especially between 4500 - 6000 rpms. this was not always the case, its only in the last two months that it started to happen (not often but now its regular). and the boost has been raised for about 12mths. Any ideas why this is happening and what i could try to fix it. any help would be good, thanks.

The CA18DET ECU is programmed to shut the fuel off when a certain air flow limit is exceeded. You could be hitting fuel cut. I've heard of people getting it as low as 12 pounds.

Boost leak or boost cut. One of the two is causing your problem.

Or both. The boost leak could be causing the turbo to overspin and draw too much air through the MAF.

Possible fuel pump starting to fail, possible plug gap is too wide (very possible), possible ignition is weak (fuel not getting burned properly).

u guys would laugh at this one, i fixed the problem and i solved it before i spent any big set off money on it trying to solve it. it was a faulty gas filter, i was sold the wrong filter when i did my last tune up, it looks like the right one but the internals could not handle the high pressure fuel. well the most important thing is that its fixed and before any further damage was done. so i am back at 12lbs boost and it feels great.

get a Z32 fuel filter, your engine will thank you later.

I concure. Z32 will work just fine, but you'll have to bend the bracket out a little bit for it to fit, as it's much larger around than the stock 240sx filter. It' built to handle at least 300hp, and I think it would handle much more than that too, if needed.

bend schmend. just brute force the bastard in there, you won't break it. just shove it in, and it'll bend out on its own, not like you have to bend it first.

I've used Z32 filters since when I first got my car and it still had the KA24E!

for me its either same price or cheaper at courtesy
