Yeah, about that. $1700 is a whole lot.. My engine, for example, cost $700 less than that crank. I mean it looks cool and all, and they seem to stand behind their product, but...

Also, its a bit misleading because you need to use special rods/pistons too, or stuff will hit stuff and it will be bad.

Its a big investment, and hard to justify when we have members making 700+hp without special cranks.

The CA20DET is more talk than walk as well as being too much bling to justify the means. Use that kind of money to beef-up your engine as well as tune it. I would love to drop the ends, but it's just not practical due to the fact that I already have a very expensive engine that's been sitting in my garage for years (Fully built). Most guys around here or with a CA period should be m ore concerned with getting the most of the 1809cc motor before they indulge into headaches and trickery. Pump 25+ psi of tuned boost through the 18 and see the difference. You may not want that stroker stuff so badly anymore. :gapteeth:

A progressive nitrous injection setup would be easier and yeild the same results. Probably better results actually. Or you could buy a supercharger...

Wow, your CAS never once got adjusted! That's kinda cool!

Start build thread once loads of pictures have been amassed. Those long lag times between posts can annoy peoples...

I think you should bite the bullet and go for the SPOOL stroker crankshaft. It would be so effin awesome.

I've had a few engines with the seal on the CAS undisturbed which usually mean the engine is still pretty young (Under 50,000miles) as yours appear to be. As for a rebuild, when I came across an engine like that, it was just throw it in the car and keep it moving. Engines with go-fast components on it already I fear the most because they've been raped already and too what degree, you don't really know. The reward is just the goodies that it came with that will probably be the reason why an engine needs to be rebuilt/refreshened.

My advice: Throw the thing in your car and go............And when it lets go or whenever, you would've had bought yourself some time to save some loot and plan properly for your upgrades.

Tim: As much as I love NICO and its members, I can't be on a computer all day and everyday. But we all try to fill in the blanks when someone who may be knowledgeable in a particular area is not around. And besides, I'm probably old enough to be some of you kids' father, so you know us mature folk needs some time figure out what a computer is, let alone log onto one :poke: .

I know what you mean by that.... but i've already have the car since 2006. its actually in the car and been my weekend warrior for 30 000km since i got it. This litle peace even had a 1800km road trip in a weekend without major problem.
I went to drag strip a least 10 time... over 250pass on the car. Went to 1 lapping event getting the hell out of it.

It never had maintenance appart from regular oil change (motul 300v 15w50) ,plugs, and filter....
Since i have the car, every time i changed oil, i did a Caterpillar S.o.s Oil sample test to see whats going on. Everything have been fine until the last one at the end of last year.
and this one appeared to have a big concentration (way to much) of magnesium and aluminum particle in the oil (and some other stuff). They test suggest to check bearing carefully, so i'am gonna do.

That why i'm removing it from car. If i wanna drive it for a least another 5year (track use) i have to do it now. some 22yo gasket must be very dry and dont wanna pop some crank rear seal on the track at 200km/h and 7000rpm. So i think it need new oil and water pump, timing belt service kit and a whole reseal, I plan into staying with stock internal since they probably still rocking and want only around 300-350whp for now. Thats why i was curious about you going 28psi on stock bottom end...

Btw.... i received an e-mail from spool import ( they answered my question very fast like same day). They said it didnt it at all in the block and main... that it would use oem ca18 bearing main and rod, they say we can use oem stock rod but we need custom piston that move the pin in the piston to allow for the increased stroke.

Thats pretty much what he said about it.

Yes but the crank is a fully counterweight billet item, which is much more desireable than a Tomei.

Spool do it billet steel full counterweight too ... and its only 1380$ a pce. You can used oem or aftermarket con rod and custom piston... around 170$ each from supertech, cp can do it too... well they are cp custom piston in their kit...
