Hey everyone, just wondering if any one can enlighten me on marking the timing when doing a CA18DET head gasket?

How do you mark the cam pulley and crank to get the timing right when putting it back together again?

Also what are the possible issues or things that will break if I get it wrong and how hard is it to get it back to the correct setting?

two marks on the camgear backing plate at 3 oclock exhuast and 9 oclock intake correspond with dots stamped on the gears. There is another dot stamped on the crank gear that lines up with a notch in the oil pump housing on that flange under the gear at like the 4-5 oclock position.

DON'T **** IT UP, THE CONSEQUENCES ARE UGLY.

TMS nailed it. Just make sure you've got the motor set at TDC on the compression stroke when you take it apart, and you should be OK.
