The B&M unit will work just fine. Any of the S13 units will work, but beware of the cheap-cheaps as they may be nothing more than just another shifter less the function you desire.

Stock shifter and counter weighted shift knob FTW. My friend had a short shifter and I hated it. You can't shift any faster than the synchros will work, so I never saw the point of a short shifter but that's just me..

you can shift much faster with good synthetic gear oil and a light weight flywheel
the stock shifter feels like rowing a boat! there's a reason why nismo made a short shifter for the S13 after all ;)

the key to improving any car is the sum of all the parts, not just doing one or two things that won't do much on their own and being disappointed at those results

Any S13 short shifter will work. My fav combo is a B&M with a heavy shift knob. The feel is perfect.

CA's stock flywheel is... atrocious. 28lbs. Ugh.

At least you keep some low-end torque with that heavy POS...LMAO. And just think, folks always try to figure out how to gain more torque down low  (put your KA24 back in) Well, the correct way is to keep your heavy arse flywheel and properly connect the butterfly system and you will most certainly have a nicely pulling 1809cc motor below 4000rpm. Now, if you got some serious parts and are really serious about performance, you would know that aforementioned combo is for "candy-boys" who like to do quick throttle releases between first and second gear just to hear their blow-off valves make some noise. Seriously, it comes down to what the user wants from his/her engine. I personally don't like my boost early in the rpm range, so that definitely means no small turbos, no heavy flywheels and definitely no bootleg short shifters, either.

Well my CA had plenty more torque down low than the KA24E, when I had it running right with the butterflies and all, even off boost... but that's in part due to extra displacement from overbore :D

Heavy flywheel doesn't gain torque or lose torque, it just stores energy. A heavy one just keeps the engine from feeling like it is "losing steam" as easily when you go momentarily off boost (i.e. gear changes), but the trade off is it's harder to bring up /down the RPM.

Now, I'm not saying I'd rather have some ultra light flywheel... just a more reasonably weighted flywheel (say, at the upper end of "light weight" aftermarket, rather than the low end), would be good enough.

a 12-15lbs flywheel is probably a good compromise for performance and street use :)

flywheels do not affect power or torque... they are just rotating mass that helps the engine keep spinning, which is beneficial for easy street driving as it will let you shift slowly without the rpms tanking and let you take off from a standstill without reving the engine

It's really just a matter of how sloppy the stock shifter feels....literally feels like rowing a boat, as someone put it. I want to shorten the stroke up some, but I care more about shift "feel." I want it to stiffebn up and feel more positive. I have heard the b&m shifter does this very well.

Anyone running the ISIS shifter that can give a review? I have heard they are similar in feel to the b&m

a short shifter + heavy shift knob will counter weight it and you'll get awesome shift quality like some of the newer sports cars out there
but as I said already, you can only shift so fast without having a light weight flywheel and synthetic fluid.... the CA's flywheel weighs a ton unlike some other setups out there.... flywheel upgrade is a must!
