hello,

have a few problems with my car. I just did the swap and got it running. now when i rev the car as the rpms begin to climb...it cuts out/hesitates or something. Then it'll sound like its backfiring. I was thinking it was a fuel issue but some people get their car up and running fine with the stock s12 pump.

then i thought it was a vacuum problem, i found i was missing my iacv entirely.

i haven't check the coils or even the igniter, how should i test the two components?

Have you installed the IACV? That poses a considerable vac/boost leak and will make the car run like poo.

not yet, is it a necessity or can i just block it off.

I suppose i should get one becuase it helps on cold starts correct?

The car has no ac

another problem i suspect is the knock sensor. when i did the swap it was lose and now its missing. is it critical as well?

coilpacks...is there a way to test them?

The iacv is for the ac. All it basically does is when you turn your ac on it idles the motor up alittle. If your going to run ac you'll need that, but if your not then you can block it off. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, you do need a knock sensor.

If you have the fsm, how to test the coilpacks is in there. It's on EF & EC-125.

also check your plugs. spark blowout maybe? your gap may be too high.

checked the resistence on the coils...

they show 0.9ohms when the car is off. the service manual says 0.6-0.8ohms....is this good or bad?

i replaced the plugs already...just to clarify, what should the stock gap be?

depending on the boost. but you can't go wrong with 30-32. if you are boosting alot more like 20psi + i would gap down to 28

You could have a boost leak, my car ran like that with a slight boost leak, if you slowly build to full boost and dont just jump straight to WOT will it run fine? because mine did but if I jumped on her she would have similar problems.

as soon as i built boost it starts to miss, if i go WOT it sputters with loud back fires.

I do have a dsm resistor, i dont know if i have it wired correctly, all i did was cut splice/solder into the factory harness where the stock resistor was located.

Hmm it's probably a wiring demon somewhere then, if your response was "It runs fine if i slowly build the boost to full boost" I would tell you to be checking for a boost leak, but now with it missing and such, I would check over my wiring.
