Here a little quiz for you!see pics....

Pic 1: Connector with the male end of what ever it was connected to broken off inside it!

Pic 2 showing 3 things that are in question

Pic 3, Better pic of the unit on the far right of pic 2, any ideas what it is, if i need it? what it should be conected to ?

Pic 4 Better pic of the middle item from pic 2,

Pic 5 Better pic of the left item in pic 2,

Pic 6 oil breather pipes x2, where should they go to? at the moment they have been left disconected!

Anyone be able to identify what these items are/do, and if they are even require.

:D

pic1:fastidle control valve only needed if you are using a/c

pic2: left side is the ignitor middle is the resistor for the injectors right side is the purge valve.

Thanks for your reply!Great help :D

Purge What is it for? What should it be connected to?Does it make any diference?

Fast Idle control,How does this work?I already have an idle control valve ?where does the extra air go in to the engine?

1) Idle Step up for the AirCon'.

2) The big square thing (Pic 5) with a plug in each side is the ignition igniter moduleThe Thing hanging by your finger (pic 4) is the dropping resistor for the injectors

3)Is the boost control solenoid.

6)The breather from the intake rocker cover should run to the PCV (Pressure Control Valve) on the back of the plenum. The Breather running for the Exhaust side rocker cover should run to the intake to the turbo between the AFM and the turbo inlet.

I figured the solenoid (pic3) would be for the butterfly valves in the intake...

Thanks for the help guys,

Where should the boost control solenoid be connected to?it hasnt been conected as long as ive had the car, does it need it/ wil it make it run any better?

Also what is the PCV

boost control solenoid simply needs a vac reference line. it increases fuel with when in boost.

PCV is on the back of the manifold. it controls the vent of crank pressure.

I think you'll find that it is just a solenoid for increasing boost response. It only receives a signal from the ECU and doesn't return any signal to the ECU. I have never ran the solenoid on my 180sx. The Solenoid that you are talking about is only fitted to Auto CA's and adjust the pressure that the FPR see's. The solenoid pictured is not that solenoid it's the one that sits under the igniter.

The PCV is on the picture 6 that you have posted, It's the thing with the hose clamp on it and the 90 degree hose that has a bolt in it by the looks of it to block it off. The PVC closes when the plenum pressure go positive and therefore stops the head from becoming pressurised.

1. Air Conditioning 'up idle' solenoid.2. left: ignition transistor pack,

centre: injector ballast resistor pack for low impedence DET injectors

right: boost control solenoid (but could be power valve solenoid for intake butterflies)Boost control solenoid is controller by a PWM waveform like a bleed valve. Only used on the second 'high octane fuel map' which is determined by knock sensor signal.

6. join the hose near throttle to the PCV valve at back of plenum or feed them to a catchcan (that's what the previous owner did). The long hose on the exhaust side is normally plugged into the intake, but also better to be sent through a catchcan, filtered of oil vapor and then put into the intake. One of these hoses needs to breath to low pressure/ atmosphere (or intake) or the dipstick will fly out.

The reason why the solenoid is the boost solenoid is beacue of the loom that it's attached to, For it to be the butterfly solenoid it would have to be on the other loom that comes through the passangers side (the drivers side in Australia). Also that clip the you can see in the picture is identical to the one that sits above the ignitor with the cable running dwon the solenoid underneith the ignitor.
