Hello Gents,

Can anyone please help me as I am going nuts !!!!!

The problem is the following:

I have built my CA18DET and it has been working for a while. I have not driven it much as I was redoing all the bodywork. The poroblem started last Sunday. I took it for a small spin and it back-fired. After the engine stalled and would not crank. This morning I took out the plugs cleaned them, cranked all all sounded great again. After it got to operating temperature the engine stalled (car was standing still no driving around). After trying it would not start at all it only had hard, very hard cranking. To give you an idea the cranking was so hard that it seemed the baterry was dead and the engoine would crank (spin) for a second and than kinda stop deadstill. You would try again and the same thing. I was thinking it was hydrolocking so I removed the ECU to make sure there was no injection at all. And to my surprise the engine spun normally and as quickly as always. As soon as you plug the ECU back the hard cranking and engine-stopping-blocking started again. I have no clue what it could be.

PLEASE PLEASE give me some help. I need to get the car certified to be able to drive it around and I need to do it by the end of this week.

Thanks for everything.
