Whats a reasonable price for a ca18 clip? Ive seen them range from $1,300-$1,999.

Theres this place in north georgia about 30 minutes from here that has a ca front clip for $1999...."Includes CA18DET Engine, 5-Speed Transmission, Driveshaft, Differential, and Fuel Pump". Im pretty sure it should come with most everything though, since its a clip. Although I think $1,999 is kinda high, it is RIGHT here in town.

Mind if I ask where you are looking? I got my notorset from J-Hot in Agusta for $1000. I don't think that the shell, driveshaft, diff, and fuel pump are worth $1000 though (although I would LOVE a CA VLSD)

I got it in March. Nothing is wrong with that turbo. Just had the vent from the valve cover fed back into the intake and the turbo got a nice bath in engine poo (blow by). Blades look good. My SR T25 that came with my motorset looked a lot like that.

Oh yeah, and what did your motorset come with? Im trying to debate on getting a motorset or front clip. Im leaning towards a front clip right now, just to be sure I got everything because I want to do a stock install (with the exception of fuel pump, turbo timer, nismo motor mounts, greddy o2 housing + downpipe, and catco 3" cat).

That would be mighty expensive after you factor in taxes if there are any. Assuming your tax is anything like florida.(6 cents to the dollar)

Motor, transmission, harness, ECU and that is it. To get it running I needed SMIC and piping, clutch slave line, MAF, intake tube, air filter, downpipe. The clip is the way to go, but I just couldn't find one when I was looking. Actually, I wasn't in the market for a motor, I jsut looked on eBay, saw the CA and got it. I did like 1 week of research before I bought it ;)

Oh yeah, a clip has a higher chance of goodies (intake, BOV, etc) My motorset came with that SR T25 you see above.

7% sales tax on $2000 = $140. That should be quite a bit less than shipping an entire clip. As it's local (Jarco, I assume), you can also inspect it first hand - VERY valuable.

If the diff is the 4.36, nice find = $350Fuel pump = $80

Mileage, aftermarket goodies, interior bits, body panels? Perhaps $2000 isn't so bad - you may be able to talk them down a bit.

Good luck.Chris

Guess I didnt think of it like that, I would check it out but still look around for other cheaper deals. It was only $220 to ship my motor to my door from Canada. Though like you said he can physically go and look it the motor himself so thats a plus. Whatever you do good luck and I hope you have more fun than heart-ache while doing the swap ;) .
