Why not use a ps pump from a non-hicas Ca18det silvia ? I think it's the best thing to do.

I can personnaly can get them brand new from nissan but those are surely expensive and take long to make their way to us . The bad thing is that almost part comming from japan are Special order and are not-refundable.

I working on ''something'' to get better brand new jdm part service here in Montreal. Not easy but possible !

It sounds like you need to talk to local Datsun people using a CA18.

We throw away these heavy parts when doing transplants, as the Datsuns don't have power steering.

I live in Australia so I'm no help. Surely some Datsun people in the States would have one. Try in the Datsun section of NICO.

just remove the fins from one side and block off the outlet on that side and the hicas model will work fine. mine works great like that with no problem

i use good old fashioned muscle... the fact that my front wheels are 4inches wide also helps with the ease of turning without my PS =)

Yeah, just block off the port for the rear line. The pressure rating for the HICAS unit is higher than the non HICAS but that shouldnt be an issue.

If you just cap it off, it'll still leak. You've got to take it apart and remove the impeller.

I use a DOHC KA pump on my RB... Just some mix and match stock bracket voodoo. Unless someone has specific info I'd suggest picking up a pump with brackets and messing with 'em till you find something that works.

And removing the impeller blades is a piece of cake, 15 min job max.

Glad to help.

I wish somebody would do a write up on that.

I'd put in in the stickies and we'd get you a custom title under your SN.

I had a Hicas pump and removed the rear blades etc and it worked fine. When that pump crapped out I replaced the pump with a non hicas pump. But to do that --you need a non hicas bracket. The pump was off an S12 I believe.

there are some rb forums that i was on that gave me the impeller blade idea and i made myself a brass fitting to block off the second side and made a stainless adapter for the power steering reservoir feed line, they sell adapters at o'reilys as well, would make a good sticky though just dont have pics from when i did mine... easy to explain without pics though
