You're timing is terrible. I have a bad feeling I'm going to surpass what my SPEC Stage 3+ is going to be able to hanlde, but right now, the funds aren't there to be able to afford this. G/L w/the sale!

So if this wasn't enough clutch for your setup, what are you replacing it with?

Having stock transmission issues, so i've decided to go a different route for more power.

I always wondered about what the limit of the stock transmission was. The guys in europe say it's 300whp, but I think that's in a drag racing environment. About what power level did you think you started to have issues?

"us guys in europe" say about 400+ whp wich seem to be "agreed" by most people in norway and sweden.
A little weird to ask the guys using normal "chip setups" to change gearbox in the same process because they are going to hit 450+ whp.

ah, ok. That sounds like a more resonable power level. What part of the stock trans fails?

Hmm, goes the gear fail, or is the issue related to the housing flexing?

The gear fail, but i dont know if thats a result of something flexing.
I would like to know what setup OverBoosted180 goes with now.
Im a fan of tilton + z32 for a streetcar.

Correction: High powered steetcar.
If you use the tilton thick discs they are pretty driveable as oposed to the thin discs.
They are also really cheap but of course no point if you are going for 400hp.

Ahh. Man, all this talk of 400hp creating issues in the transmission is making me re-think my power goals. Maybe I won't crank this T04E all the way up and see what it does.

You should see what it can do!
If the box should break then it breaks.
No big deal.
And of course, it comes down to how you treat it.

Keep in mind guys, the transmission hasn't completely taken a crap, it was whining pretty loud and i didn't want to find out what and how it would break. LOL I need this clutch gone!! No need for it.

That's true, and the S14 is a toy, so it's not like I'm out anything if it fails. If it's just 3rd gear, I wonder if cryo/shot peeen/etc treatment would resolve the issue? Anybody tried this?

I think someone in the UK did it to an entire box
not sure of the results or even if they really did it
A brand new z32 box is pretty cheap so I don't know if it's worth the hassle.

Are all of the Z32 transmissions the same, or just the turbo?

If I remember correctly there are some bellhousing differences between the NA and the turbo. some came with ports for cooling.
internally they should be the same but the 98+ Japan boxes has redesigned gears and better syncros.
That's the one z1motorsports.com sells.

Btw OverBoosted180, you could probably sell it as an sr20 and rb25 clutch also.
Depending on flywheel design.
