So my ca18's t25 is dying and shooting out oil. My friend gave me his old t25 from an SR that i will rebuild.

What is needed to put the t25 from SR to the CA? I heard something about the oil line is needed, anything else?

And, is it possible to swap the turbo and still leave the motor in?

zerothread?id=232647 <- by searching T25G on the CA18DE section.

Oil line feed might need to be bent. Or you could try to piece your own braided flexible one. There is a write up around.

You can change the turbo without taking the motor out, but as Tim would say, you will need new joints on your arm to be able to take out some tricky nuts below the exhaust manifold.

Would also recommend a Walbro, FMIC and boost set to 10 psi. Stock ECU should be able to handle it without any problems.

Good luck.

In my opinion taking the engine out would be harder than doing it while it's in the car. Get a longer than normal 14mm wrench to help get the two bottom manifold bolts that are tricky. Be patient.

My advice is that you should take the headers off. I've done few times and it is most easy to take DP out then just remove all the plumings wich are going to turbo then bolt off the headers and turbo out in one piece put it on table and swap turbo little bit tricky to do but much much easier than try to put your hands on those tiny places. :D Good luck and hope u understand what I'm trying to say :D

Does anyone know if I would need a different exhaust elbow/downpipe to fit the sr20 t25 into the ca18?

Also, i noticed there's a lot of discussion of turbo elbows and what fits/doesn't fit, i took mine out yesterday and it was pretty rusted and in real bad shape, I'm looking to replace it. but using the search i just see what doesn't fit, does anyone know what will fit?

just get an SR20 O2 housing and SR20 Downpipe and everything will be fine.

let me add to this..try and get an SR20 o2 housing/elbow and downpipe that are from the same manufacturer, as in dont get an ebay elbow and a Blitz downpipe. this also reminds me my ebay elbow has a crack in it...

any recommendations? ebay is like the first place i'd go to because i don't know any better.

also, does the down pipe eliminate the cat? I'm looking to keep my cat 'cause i'm a semi-tree hugger. ha ha hah

j...ur killing me here man

1) if ur gonna use an sr turbo, and have a stock CA pipe, the SR (stock oem) elbow will not bolt to the CA (Stock Oem) down pipe, the 3 bolt flange is clocked differently

2) its preffered you buy the 2 after market parts from the same supplier since itll be less chance of u needed to get a muffler shop to modify fitment costing u more mulah

3) no the down pipe (OEM or aftermarket) does not delete the cat...either put a cat or cat delete pipe

4) dont do ebay, theres a reason you hear this constantly...

some aftermarket elbows come with a welded on small diameter bung for an o2, stock size o2's dont fit that...so you gonna be carefull on what you buy...

Edit: the CS elbow has the stock size o2 bung, should be good to go...

2nd edit: and im personally against Flex pipe style DP... ive seen some just tear up...

Take the turbo mani offput the new turbo and gasket on the manifold and then put the manifold back in, attach all oil lines and external pieces.

and it comes with the test pipe... looks good...

i would also suggest calling them and double checking if both parts were made to coincide with the other...but thats just me...unless someone can confirm they already do...?

ZMG someone shoot me in the face. The CXRacing turbo elbow bolts up fine, but the down pipe doesn't bolt up because the frame rail is in the way... is it because the exhaust side of the turbo is not clocked correctly? Anyone ran in to this issue before?

this happens if you are running with the stock manifold and SR20 elbow/downpipe. Go to an exhaust shop and ask them to make it work (tell them to cut/weld the downpipe) or take that 15% coupon CXRacing gives you after a purchase and buy their CA manifold.. Try the exhaust shop first tho, it's probably cheaper, and you'll get to use the stock "quick spool" manifold

i'd take it in there and tell them it doesn't line up, and you want them to make it line up. Have the catback bolted up and in position along with the downpipe bolted to the elbow and show them what you are talking about. They should just be able to put the downpipe and weld it up to make it work.

the elbow and dp can bolt up, it just makes the dp hit the frame rail and doesn't line up with the rest of the exhaust.
