If you want the SMIC too, I would say get the clip. Keep in mind that it is more expensive than a motorset. If you plan on getting a FMIC, I'd say get the motorset (Less crap to dispose of).

I'm getting a clip so I have all the little hoses and crap to go with it. Also, seeing exactly what goes where and marking it prior to extraction is going to help me a freaking ton when I have to put it all back together. I have no idea what I'd do other than mass trial and error if I got just the set. =\

Quote »motorsets dont come with smic ?
It's rare that they do. I've sold a couple of them with the SMIC and some without. It's like the luck of the draw! But if I can pass my experiences with this motor on and I've said it time after time, don't let money stand in the way of hampering your engines performance. The stock SMIC is garbage and can't stress this enough. Invest in a nice FMIC kit and you'll thank yourself later. SMICs sucks the big one when it comes to efficiency. Running 10 to 12psi will hurt you more than help you........Get the motorset and use the extra money to buy a nice FMIC and maybe a nice BOV.

It's rare that they do. I've sold a couple of them with the SMIC and some without. It's like the luck of the draw! Like I said, sometimes they come with a SMIC and sometimes they don't. But they do have everything else needed to run the engine.

Quote »Hey D, you have any more motorsets coming in?
Yeah, I got some coming in from each of my 3 importers, but they are coming in far and between. I strongly recommed each of you to get an extra CA18 transmission because the 5 speeds are becoming scarce (And this was said from all 3 of my boys). The automatics are in abundance, but the manuals are running out. I may even try a hybrid using U.S. trannies to see if it will work.

A complete clip gives you a format as to how things almost need to go, but it will be different (electrically) in the U.S. model cars. I mean if you can get a clip shipped to your door for under $2000, then I personally would say get it. But if you get a complete motorset minus the intercooler and pipes, then you have less of a headache of having to remove the motor from the clip and dealing with a lot of useless stuff, then having to dispose of the the JDM car's carcas.

I'm just getting a motorset as I am having a shop install mine. I am having to peice togeather a SMIC setup, but I planned on that anyway. Another nice thing about a clip is all the good you *may* get aftermarket IC, BOV, intake, etc.

My CA should be in the mail Saturday or Monday:)
