73 mk1 escort van CA18DERT

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

after 11 months of working on it a few days a week i had it all road legalwith a 2.o pinto looking like this

i had it on the road for a bout a year then 1 day it had a fire and burnt outall the wiring so i pulled it off the road and after about 3 mouths had it running aca18det

but it still had the standard escort 4.1 diff and 13" wheels and after 3weeksi had fryed 4 tyres broke 1 gearbox (was screwed anyway) and 3 diffs lolso i pulled it off the road to start a build again this time with falcon 5 stud ,falcon 300mm front brakes, falcon lsd disc rear end ,wrx coil over suspention6link rear end, tubed rear end, rally fiberglass bubble archs ect, ectso heres the pics of the work so far

im going to be running 17" wheels and the tubs are so i can geta 17x10/11" rim under ths back.this is a 235x17 tyre

this is as far as ive gotdrivers rear tub mad and some of the boxing

cheersdan

ok so its been a whilt since i updated things on here.
not much has been done to be honest.

i have almost finished making the 6 link rear end with the lsd falcon diff
Image

test fitted the wheels and im able to now get a 17x9 on front and 17x10 on the rear
Image
Image

i also got the block and now 4 port head back in to make manifolds for the turbo and
sc14 supercharger.
i bought a 2nd hand cheap topmount manifold and cut it up and weled it so the turbo and wastgate will be where i want them
Image

with the wastegate in place there is about 10mm from the wall but i am still to move the motor over abit.
Image

and with the gt3540 in place
Image

the sc14 will be sitting down here a bit i have made another engine mount for this side so the supercharger will fit in
Image

and this is aprox where i will be making an airbox to feed both turbo and sc14 and it will get its air threw the bonnet
Image

thats it for now.

love the fenders,
I saw a wagon once done like this with a 400hp v8,

sc and turbo, guessing the sc will feed the turbo to reduce lag and increase low end torque,
what kind of power are you planning for?

looks sick, reminds me of an old hot rod

thanks mate
ill be looking for at least 400hp at the wheels.

the sc will be running buy its self and all the time and the turbo will have 2 open valves im making so it wont
llet air in to the intercooler till it reashes a certen psi.

cheers

hi all its been awhile
we almost moved back to the u.k to live but decided against it and in that time i had sold the van but now have it back so heres a wee update.

i was starting to work out the watts link for the rear and that ment finding the ride hight i wanted but in doing this i found the ride hight was the diff hard upagainst the rails so no suspention travel

pic of the ride hight i want
Image

so after doinging somethinking i decided to c-notch the chassy and like alot of this van it was somthing i had never done before but had a go anyway
Image

so after all that this is ride hight
Image

and this is the tyre hitting the top of the guard
Image

with this much room spair
Image

just got to wait for my adjustable coil overs to be made in the u.k and ill be able to make the rear turrets and weld them in .then its the watts ling sort the roll center out and that will be full home made group a tarmac rally spec 6 link rear end in a mk1 van lol i love it

cheers
