You have rod knock and you need to make repairs before you screw-up the crank. It's definitely not in the head, so don't waste your time because the head doesn't have components that can make knocking noises unless you break a camshaft and that is unlikely and will be accompnied by some dead cylinders. Pull the engine and make repairs and you should be just fine again.AhnJimC wrote:OK, the motor just started to make a mild knocking or clicking sound but only does so between 2000-3000 rpm. It sounds like its coming from the head, and the rate of knocking seems to stay the same, regardless of engine speed. However that could be since it's only audible in a small range. And it's not as loud as some other knocking issues I've heard before. Other than that the car seems to be fine (normal idle, normal power). Any ideas?
