Hello Everyone i am currently doing a CA18det Swap in my 1990 Nissan 240sx.So far i have the engine set in the hole, mounts tightend and coolant hoses lined up.Upon close inspection i noticed that the transmission is making contact with the drive shaft,Can anyone tell me if thats normal?

2 more quick questions, will a sr downpipe work on a ca18det?And is there any other changes i need to do in order to install a Z32 Mafs, and what benifit or increase will that give my car.

Thanks for the imput.I tried search but nothing answer these qusetions for me.

Well, the drive shaft, remove the round metal hub that is hitting your drive shaft, it comes out by using a hammer and some tapping, then remove the one from your KA engine and install it on the ca transmission, problem solved.

Personally, I haven't used an SR downpipe but lots of people on this forum use it and I don't believe there are any changes to be done.

Z32 maf is good if you are planning to boost the engine higher than stock boost or you are going with big turbo and big injectors, other than that, you don't have to replace it, and if you decide to replace it and you are using your stock ecu, you need to get a piggy back module such as safcII in order to control your air/fuel ratio floow.

Good luck and I hope that info helped.

yeah, the search thing never works worth a shiite. do youmean the transmission makes contact with the transmission tunnel? the drive shaft connects to the transmission so i would hope they were touching. i would check your mounts if its contacting the underside of the car though, as mine does not (though its fairly close). the sr downpipe will work if you cut and rotate the flange on the end about 15 degrees so it lines up with the ca o2 sensor elbow. or you can just use the sr elbow and have no problems. to install a z32 mafs, you will need to either install a safc or some kind of piggyback or standalone engine management, or you can get the ecu chipped (i think jon can do it for you pretty easily, or talk to jez horsham (sp?) across the pond at http://www.horsham-developments.co.uk ). basically itll alow you to run higher boost with a larger turbo. hope i helped.

i just used the driveshaft that came with my clip... i think he might be talking about the little hat thing on the end of the transmission...maybe the ka one is different? i say if youve got the ca driveshaft, use the hell outta it.

try replacing the splined part on the driveshaft with the one that came with your ca. the splines are the same but the lengths might be different. i wish i could help you more but my car is 250 miles away.

Nuh, you will use the Ka drive shaft without any mods done to it, I am talking about the shinny metal hat that you show in the pic that goes around the transmission end, just tap it out and it will come out, as that hat is rubbing against the drive shaft, then when you take it out, do the same thing on your KA transmission, remove that shinny hat cover and install it on the CA transmission, the whole process take about 5 mins, this way the cover won't touch the drive shaft.

Again, the shinny hat is the big shinny thing in the pic that you posted above.

Ya, it looks as if it is one piece of the transmission, but it actually comes out with little tapping.

Hey Tim, whey does float6969 thinks you are a retard :), no disrespect (I know float is joking as he is the joker on this forum and I finding him very entertaining actually).

Its there to keep dust from going onto the the seal on the transmission where the driveshaft plugs in. It is better to have it on, but if you don't, it isn't a major concern, next time your remove the drive shaft or transmission, just put it back on

i would have thought it did a little more than that. i guess since mine is leaking out the rear seal its a bit more important for me though. im guessing i can just get a transmission seal kit for the ka, but i havnt been able to find one anywhere. any ideas?

It's not that I think he's retarded. It's that I was the one that gave him his gold medal at the special olympics. I KNOW tim is retarded. I hope I never meet him in real life actually. I'm like 6'2" 185lbs. Tim is prob like 6'7" 300lbs and eats live baby sheep for snacks during the day.
