CA18DET in car , some problem :\

Hey everyone i managed to get my engine in my car this weekend... i did get some problem wiht the trany mount but its installed correctly now. My problem is the drivehsaft connection between the transmission and the shaft that go inside.



ive seen some problem like that with some sr20det in the past i think they pryed the metal sheel around so the rubber thing dont touch it...i need some input plz :)

i've read to just knock that dust shield off and call it a day.

you'll need to take the sheild off. I haven't had to do it, but I think if you just use a flat bladed screwdriver it come right out. I was lucky and got the driveshaft with mine, so I didn't have to mess with it.

Yup, it comes out with a flathead screw driver and a hammer.

I spent about 15 minutes trying to cut it to size and then when i was trying to hammer a piece off swinging away from the thing the hole cup came right out, no problem.

can any major problems be caused down the road from removing the dust shield?

no, but if you do have problems keep that hammer and it should help tremendously.
