I curently drive a 1996 240sx 5spd w/KA24DE, daily "Boring." I was wondering why nobody has done a CA18DET swap into a s14. All I have been coming up with in searches and web pages are dealing with s13 swaps. I'm still scratching my head on three options, 1) KA24DE-T, 2) SR20DET 3) CA18DET (I'm not exactly asking for your intup on wich I should do, I'll figure that out with the information I can conjure up.)Now, I've been researching the CA for a couple days now and found it to be an excellent candidate. Would the CA be a good choice for my s14 or should I do what everyone else does and go the SR route. Why/Why Not?Flame away if you must... If you can share any information with me, I would much appreciate it.

well the Sr20det was the motor made to go into that particular year over in the mother land, but a Ca18det into a S14 is doable an shouldnt even pose a problem. infact i belive its easier to put one into a model with the DE motors because the location of the power steering lines and resevoir. the only factor would be is the s14 much heavier then the s13 the Ca18det is a 1.8l as opposed to the sr20dets 2.0l it might not give as much power, but it can be made up with some bolt on work, and you would be going an alternative way that many s14 people go i mean ive never heard of one in a s14, i know of a few Sr20dets in my area, one in my actual city i think, but i only now of one Ca1det an thats a ways away if its still in that city i have the only one here i think. so im a one of a kind for now

I wouldn't waste my time with a CA in an S14. I'd only put a CA in an older S13 just for the soul purpose of creating JDM. Go the SR route. It'll be worth it.

If anything's worth doing, it's worth doing right!
