ok first off its in my hatch (240) and the wiring was redone, because when they tryed to start it before the wiring started to smoke,so it was redone, and now when we try to start it,it just clicks,so i replaced the starter and its still doing it,we tryed jumping off the battery and starter, and it ALMOST started to turn over, but then would go back to clicking,we checked the grounds, relays, fuses, what else could it be? and the motor isnt locked up.please info would be nice

my experience with a car just cranking but not turning over it ended up being a crankshaft positioning sensor but im not sure if the ca18 has one if it does its probably on the side of the block or next to the water pump behind the timing cover but honestly im thinkin it has something to do with the wiring check all your connections especially to all sensors

i re read it and it kinda sounds like your not getting power to your starter for whatever reason seeing as how it almost started to turn over when u jumped the starter....have you followed your wires from your starter back thats where i would start hope this helps

yea but when u turn the key its not turning is what im getting anyways so its gotta be a relay or maybe u got a dud starter if its a rebuilt or junkyard starter its very possible check the starter relay if thats not it i would take it down to the parts store and have it bench tested to see if u got a dud starter
