so i installed a summit heater kit into my ae86 corolla that has a ca18det swap the only problem is i do not know if the hoses are in the right spot. i have searched and im pretty sure the second picture is right but the first one is wrong. the heater doesnt care what line is in and out so im fine there. i just have a feeling both hoses are try to flow into the heater core. the only time i get heat is when the car is on the freeway around 3k RPMS. no air pockets either.

here are the picture's. the first one the hose come off a fitting right behind the thermostat housing. and the second picture the hose attaches to a fitting coming out of the block. any help would be great.

The way you have it hooked up now, there's not really any water going through the heater core until the thermostat opens up. Think about it this way; The outlet on the block and the thermostat housing is water pressure "OUT" of the water pump, and the lower radiator hose is the water being sucked "IN" to the water pump. The way you have it now, it's all just under pressure, and no return.

I was looking at doing something similar when I put my motor back in, but I realized that it wasn't really going to gain me much, and when I upgrade the turbo to a BB turbo later, I'll want the stock tube for the coolant return from the turbo anyway.
