Buy the DET motor and save yourself the headaches.

Been at this a long time dude, but if you must know I'll tell you. The CA18et is just what it is; a single overhead cam turbo engine. The CA18DET engine is what it is, a dual overhead cam turbo engine. The blocks of each are set up accordingly for their respective nomenclatures (ie et, det). In order to use the DET's head on your ET, you're going to have to tap your block for the DET's timing belt idler pulley. Though the Et's pistons are notched with valve reliefs, they are not a correct for the DET's head. You will need both manifolds, turbocharger, and so forth and so on.

It's okay if you don't take my advice on this my friend as I'm just trying to anwer your question and save you the dramas associated with what you're interested in doing. Good luck...........
