so ive been having this problem for awhile now and its getting quite frustrating. when i go to start the car it will start and run for a second or two then die. it does this hot or cold and every time. i can get it to start after multiple attempts and with feathering the gas it will eventually catch and run fine 20 in vac at idle. any things come to mind? car was running fine before this happened.

It sounds like a bad air regulator to me. It's the fast idle valve located below the throttle body.

i checked that guy it had like 72 ohms resistance which id believe is good. the hose going to it is a little kinked though could that be it?

no. it could be a lot of things, lots. but no
just gonna have to take some time and try testing things related to issue, thats my CA18 in an annoying nutshell.

you said it does it hot as well, thats new to me...maybe fuel filter and clean your mafs.

found out yesterday looking at my consult gauge while running my temp gauge for the ecu is erratically moving from 20-60 degrees back and forth quite quickly when the car cools off i will ohm out the sensor

Did you ever change the water temperature sensor? If you've never changed the water temperature sensor, then it is time for you to do so. The symptoms you speak of points me in the direction of a water temperature sensor. Did you check the ecu for code 13? I see no mentioning of it and that is a very important factor in possibly determining ECCS faults.

i have changed the sensor a few times as it has been suspect in a few cases. i have no codes at this time. i ohm'd out the sensor still in the engine at it read 5k ohms or somewhere close then sometimes it would read 0 ohms it is currently around 70 degrees here so fsm says it should be somewhere in the ballpark of 2.5 ohms. i have checked another sensor i had previously pulled and it is reading 0 ohms as well. maybe both of these sensors are bad? this one is less than a year old.

Check the connector as it could be faulty. Run the engine then remove the WTS connector and see if it sets a code. Your area of issues will lie either in the plug or your ecu.

changed the sensor and it helped a bunch of issues. the car has a brand new wiring specialties harness. i changed the cold start settings and im waiting for it to cool down so i can check it again. the old sensor was def bad when i ohm'd it out readings were all over the place from 5 volts to 4 to 3 to 0 in no order

Congrats on getting that issue sorted out. Water temperature sensors can cause you all kinds of weird issues, so that's why you have to replace that thing with a known functioning unit. I've seen new ones crap right out of the box, but I am glad you got your lump straightened out.

ran a compression test today after roughly 4000 miles on the engine. its between 152 to 155 across all 4 cylinders. still have the startup issue. going to try some cranking table and cold enrich tables to try and sort this thing out

one thing to try is, I would take out the fast idle valve and inspect it for carbon build up for anything that can cause it to not move properly
