What does it really matter why it was around in Europe longer than Japan? This whole topic is kind of irrelevant. Who cares why the 200sx had a 1.8L and this and that? We just have to accept the fact Nissan ditched the CA for the SR ( ) and we all have a part of Nissan's greatness in our cars!

Because for the most part its a short straw to grab when having to back up the populous opinion that the restrictive butterfly system was ditched to make the euro ca more powerful. Just like the super magic 4 port head that flows soooooo much better than the poverty 8port.

I'm more likely to be convinced by various factual data which some people have actually produced off their own backs that 'shows' the butterfly system is not restrictive until 500bhp(which of course everyone is chasing) but suprise, it also actually does something by greatly increasing low end torque.

Unfortunately repetitive internet seat of the pants 'experience' is far easier for most people to believe and regurgitate.

Yep... each to their own

best account of 4 port vs 8 port heads, via real world testimonials.... you'll find in the sxoc archives. Many tried imported 8-port motors as a replacement, for their worn/damaged original 4-port (dead bottom ends mostly). In short, a few went the distance to get the 8-port functioning. From memory, nearly all (preferred the 4 apparently) went thru further hassle of reinstalling their original 4-port head.I have both motors. I'll try each with the same bolt-ons... to see for myself
