What do you want to do it that you think would be an upgrade?

Are you running the Rs5F50V (hydraulic actuated clutch) transmission or the Rs5f31a (cable actuated clutch)?

Do you mean you want a lower final drive to improve acceleration? Not trying to tell you not to because it's your car, but are you sure? Those transmissions are already geared really low. And that motor makes plenty of power, I don't see any need to lower the gearing. Your gears would be so short (I know rpm drop won't change, but the time in gear will), I couldn't imagine anything lower geared unless you were making something all motor and revving to at least 9k.

Are you sure about that? Does your transmission have a locking differential? If you are using the CA18DE's transmission, you have an RS5F50A. If you are using a FWD transmission attached to the old CA18DETs, you have an RS5F50A, both having open differentials which means "peg leg" which means only one wheel transfers the power to the ground. I run a heavily modified RS5F50V hybrid transmission which does have a locking differential which also had to be made from scratch.

MDB4879 is correct in the fact that the RS5F50 series trannies don't need much upgrading. The have an excellent final drive ratio and if you got some real power, you can see just what we are talking about.

If it was that simple, everyone with the FWD CA18s would be doing it. Unfortunately, this will require $$$ time and a competent machine shop as well as someone with knowledge Nissan FWD gearboxes. And to top it off, you will need custom axles. Even for me to do it for someone nowadays will probably cost an arm and a leg and I will need time, so there's no need to advertise. Just get a phantom grip LSD module, put in your diff and save yourself the headache. I use to have that set-up and it worked pretty good.
