I planning on getting a CA18 soon. I've been doing some research found several people saying the 1.8 gets terrible gas mileage. What does a mildly modified CA get per gallon, I hope it's not worse than my ka that gets about 22-23 mpg.

Also if you had to do your choice would the CA still be on the top of your list?

If your gonna worry about mpg on a boosted car you might wanna reconsider going turbo, but I must say I dont run to the pump that often with my car. I dont really pay attention to the exact mpg but I think it is fairly reasonable (on my car). Dont run around in boost all day and you should be fine.

I get good gas mileage as I can tell....I know I get better gas mileage then my G35 coupe.

I agree with Rookieca18det but yeah stay out of boost and you will be fine.

Mine was also getting about 17 miles to the gallon. Plus if you are worried about gas mileage you can always just get a second car because I don't drive mine everyday. I have a Nissan Primera GT for that.

I can get about 20mpg if i stay out of boost and stay on highway. But as for everyday driving, about 16mpg. And if I hit that accelerator on a regular (like I do), I can get anywhere from 8-13mpg.

Cool, Thanks for the replies. The last Turbo car I owned was a 91 MR2 turbo. It was sightly modified putting down about 400hp, ran low 12's @ around 114-116. Got about 23mpg with normal driving. close to 30 on the hwy.If anyone has any Old sport compact car magazines, I was featured in the November 1997 issue. Mister Two's wide ride.

The only reason I want to know is I'm trying to decide which wonderful Nissan turbo engine I going to put in my vert.In the running are KA-T my ka is in great shape, RB20det got that skyline sound, or the CA18det, the only thing stopping right now from the ca is the running problems I've been reading about and the poor fuel economy.Yes this car is my daily driver for what it's worth.

OUt of those three engines, hmmm....

ka-ts are okay if pampered, replacement parts are easy to come by.wouldnt want one to be hard on . they dont like it. THEY GO BOOM!

Rb20 you get penalized by weight, less displacement than the ka, and near nadda for parts. Skyline ooohhh ahhhhh factor. THE SOUND!

The CA if found with low miles, can take a beating, lower weight than all other motors for better weight distribution. Less torque tho, square motor.Looks like a 4 cyl RB. AWESOME MOTOR. Ive fell in love with. Dont tell my girlfriend that! Most parts can get at auto parts store. Least starting hp. Cheap entry to turbo......

It depends. If you're going to run bolt on's with a stock ECU, you'll get ****ty mileage. Standalone/PFC/ect, and you should get in the upper 20's. I personally get about 27mpg on the highway. Not sure in the city. The CA old azz, 8-bit ECU sucks, and I would STRONGLY recommend finding some other form of engine managament.

my car gets ****ty mileage but i figure when I tune it with a custom rom tune, have them lean it out more when i am out of boost, cause it runs rich even when im normal driving, but i dont care, if I was worried about mileage I wouldnt of bought the 4.36 diff. Light to light is fun.

i'm getting ~ 21-28mpg...but i'm running rich...and in the boost, oh yeah, stock except the 3" pipe from the manifold back, and i check my fuel mileage everytime because premium is expensize and because i love gadgets, i got a sard magic box voltage stabilizer, they say that improves mileage so we'll see
