Hey, Where can I get more info on this live edit and ecu tuning. My brother has a ca18det into a 88 pulsar and we want to start messing with it. It has a JWT ecu, so i assume its all ready socketed (used to honda stuff, sorry if wrong terminology), just need some info on setting it all up. I have a Moates Ostrich and was wondering if this emulator would work with it instead of buying another emulator. I guess I can burn and tune, but that takes forever, but is easier then dishing out another 170+ for an emulator. Thanks

If you have an 88 pulsar, most likely you are running the ca18DE jwt ecu, the ca18de ecu has a different address than the ca18det, and so far, I haven't found any addresses for either the ca16de or ca18de, if you do, let me know lol.So without this address, you can't use live edit or romeditor.Good luck,

The bin files that were added before, needed to be fixed up as I have calculated the wrong "K" Value for them, here is a link to the files with the correct "K" Value.

Also check out http://nscw.kolhoos.ee/ecuedit , software made for editing CA18DET chips. It isn't as good as Live Edit yet, but it also has some features that Live Edit doesn't have - eg editing TP flow map (and calculating ~boost values for TP). And it's free.

You need to set the range. You need to burn the file twice. The first time it goes from 0000-3FFF and the second time goes from 4000-7FFF.

ok got it to burn and the car cranked but the only problem i had was the maf reading on my safc2 was 100% so I am guessing something was wrong with my tune and since that was the first 1 i have tried atleast i got it cranking lol i was wondering if i upload it to your site c-rad would you (or anyone) take a look at it and let me know what might be wrong with it.

**edit** i uploaded it to your page c-rad. the file name is stage1 +n60.bin. thanks for any helphere is the link http://ca18det.escic.com/details.php?file=23

i think i found the problem..the ECU had some ghetto riggin in it. I opened another ECU to check on something and that ECU was chipped to so i changed the chips and it wasnt giving a 100% on the maf anymore but wouldnt crank because out of gas...

Hey hey, I was on this forum as pulsarnx but something happened to my account. Anyway...

Anyone know where to get a good eprom writer? Secondly, I have a ca16de ecu chipped with JWT eprom from pulsargtr... its 370cc,10psi and good for maxima maf (i have a z32maf). I also have a greddy emanage with full laptop software not installed yet. Should I even worry about the bin's and conentrate on the greddy. Or as I beef the engine, Install the best bin on my jwt ecu that i can find, and then fine tune with the greddy?

Thanks !!

oh.. ps ... STAGE1 Chip n60maf ca18det.bin what boost would this run @ and what injector size is this for??

For that matter what boost do all of these bins run at ?? And what is 64VQ in the bin files ???

Thanks

Jason

So how many people out there are succesfully tuning their stock ECU'd ca18det's with a laptop computer? Any great success stories, or is this still in its infancy so to speak?

Sounds like it could be a worthwhile option next to spending an arm n' leg on standalone.

Here's what I did-I made a file management system. Basically it is divided into 2 categories. One category is for the Live Edit program and the other is for the ROM files. It also has the ability for people to upload their own .bin files and give a description of each one. This way here other people can submit their own tunes. It would be nice if people were to upload them, to give a list of their current mods so others can compare. Give me some feedback on it. I am going to make a main page with tips on tuning, what kind of stuff you should get, etc... Here's the address-

http://ca18det.escic.com

Enjoy!
This website doesnt work anymore. Anyone have any ROM .bins and address files for the CA? Im especially interested in stock .bins and address files. I have used ROMEditor to tune my SOHC KA ECU, and i really want to tune my CA, espically for larger injectors.

Also, i know on the KA you can swap to a Stanza ECU to gain Consult downloadability, which is how i dumped to stock ROM to my laptop. Is there any Consult compatibility with the CA ECU?

Thanks,Jason

you can buy a daughterboard now for the CA18 that allows use of consult.also gives it realtime maptracing.you also dont need an emulator with this daughter board.....you just plug it into the laptop with USB cable.

I got the ROM .bin file from ch187, and found the address file on the internet. Check out http://www.boostcruising.com/silvia/eprom.asp as they do real decent job talking about tuning the ECU. Both the ROM .bin file and the address file can be found on that site, or let me know and i can email them both and you can host them.

ECU tuning is fun!

I have been reading a few of your posts on the forum for tuning Nissans. I am using the Romulator and would like to use it to trim the fuel curve on a Silvia. My impression is I don't have the Romulator confiqured properly. I was able to set beginning address 0000 and the second 4000 load the file ca18det.bin. The engine will not start OR relays will click. I want to know how to Live Edit the calibration using the Romulator.Thanks. Gary

Hate to bring such an old thread back to life, but are any of you guys still doing this? I have an eprom programmer, chip etc but no idea where to start with a tune. Anybody have one they want to send me? SR T25, N62 MAFS, DSM 450cc, 3" exhaust, FMIC, walbro 255.

Really the only thing you need to be doing with those mods and a max of about 10-12psi of boost is your K, your VQ table and your load scales. Read this link: http://www.boostcruising.com/silvia/eprom.asp to get an idea of where to start.

With the DSM injectors I found a K of 142dec and a latency of 94dec work nicely. However that's with a stock MAF and a stock fuel pump. With the N62 your K will be around 371dec And don't forget to insert the N62 VQ table in place of the stock one. Keep in mind I do not have a N62 MAF so that figure is based on calculation alone. It will get you into the ballpark but you NEED a wideband to fine-tune your K value. Every car is different and what works for one will not necessarily work for the other.

Your Fuel and ignition scales will look like so:

Fuel Scale: 5 8 13 17 21 25 29 34 38 42 46 49 51 55 60 68

Ign Scale: 8 13 17 18 21 23 25 29 34 38 42 46 51 55 60 68

Thankyou sir! Thats just what I needed to get started! If you ever come to the Houston area you have a cold beer waiting for you.

And if anybody has a tune they want to sell me that cool too
