Unable to continue." do u recomend picking up a cheap laptop for this? can i use a mac laptop? i have like 3 of those lol.
Must be running Windows. I've run Live Edit successfully on a P166MHz laptop, AMD 850MHz desktop, and now on my 1.33GHz laptop.

Yah, good luck on hybridka. All that goes on there is a bunch of BS. Not one guy on there has successfully tuned a turbo motor from what I gather.

What do you guys think about the MegaSquirt?

I was looking at megasquirt for my 1st gen turbo neon. For the neon it was your choice if you wanted full stand alone or just fuel or just spark control. I have not looked for the nissan setup yet. I just got my 240sx project yesterday. I am a noob when it comes to factory turbo setups such as the ca and rb motors. lol

So what are these bin files for and how do you use them?

What do you need to use them?

Do you just get your ecu chipped and then all you have to do is connect your ecu to the computer and start tuning away because if so that would be great because i thought that everytime I do an upgrade to my engine e.g(add a Z32 maf and larger injectors) then I would have to take my car back to the shop to get the ecu retuned.

If this means I can tune my ecu by myself please tell me more and what all i would need to buy to do this because this would save me alot of money.

I know hardly anything about tuning.

Hey I have a Z32 MAF on the way, and I already installed a socket in my ECU. I will give you some feedback and a dyno sheet with AFR when I get a chance.

Can I use 27c512 chips instead of 27c256 chips? If I can, is there any advantage or disadvantage? The reason I ask is I have alot of the 27c512's and not too many 27c256's.

Look on ebay man.... you ideally want a 27C128 so you only need to copy the file once. You can usually find a lot of 50 used 27C128's for like $10. You just need to erase them. Out of 50, you will probably get at least 30-35 that are still good.

yes....you can use 512's....I just finished making a daughterboard so that you can use a 512 chip with 4 different settings on it, and switch between them on the go.

you dont need a daughter board tho....if you only want one setup, you just have to copy it on the chip 4 times and you'll be fine.

You have modified the K number for the injectors but not for the Z32 MAF And you omit to consider the latency for the different injectors. Theoricaly, latency is increasing with the size.

Really interresting Have you got schematics or something like that ?

Hi LMQT,

I calculated the K number according to the new injector size which isn't related to the Z32MAF, how ever I illiminated the first 12 values for the Z32MAF VQMap.

Is there an equation to calcuate the Latency? Also, I am using "ROM Editor" and they don't have a latency, they refer to it as "Void blast-Off time".

I guess some one has to give some of these programs a try in real life sensarios in order to get some feed back on what exactly they experience.

Thank you for your input.

Yes Injector Latency = Void blast-Off time. With stock injectors, it is about &h37.With 444cc (RB26DETT), &h3A to 40 is good. And with 550cc, something like &h4A to 4F should be good.In fact, it depend on the injector brand : a value for one could not be good for another one. And the difference is more important with bigger injectors.

You have to change the K value according to the MAF in order to indicate at your ECU a sort of correspondance between the two MAF because the high and low values are differents in MAF tables. You can find a start of explanation on this page.

Hum,

What setup do you have 1SlowCA18DET? what injectors and maf are you using? would you be able to burn one of the programs on a eprom and give it a try? instead of using live edit.

Thanks for your input, I will take a look at the program tonight to see if I can figure it out. But I would like some one to give it a try using an eprom.

Thanks,
