How safe is to change the dwell time on the standard ignition coils? Do they work with the optimum dwell time with the standard ecu or is there another point where the coils are more effective (stronger spark)? I ve been told mine's ecu does this (changes the dwell time), but is this safe or does it usually mean that coils will fail sooner than usual?

As far as i know it is the time that the ignition coils are being charged before firing. So i guess optimum dwell time means the strongest possible spark . Any opinions on that would be much appreciated .

what program do you use to access the dwell time? Livedit, ecuedit, or to need to get in thorugh a hex editor? In which case what is the hex address of the dwell time? Also what is stock and what is the mine's setting? I would definitely like to play with that a little.
