Ok so i was in the process of removing the head and putting in ARP head studs, one of the washers went missing in the process, didnt think nothing of it, and as we went to put on the new washers and install the head a washer slid inside the head itself and unable to see it or get it out. Now im about to oder a new head because there is no way i see on how to get the washer/s out. Any ideas? im just worried they will find their way to the valve springs and cause a major issue down the road. The other issue is finding another head around where im at. Any ideas or input?

Get a magnetic wand and start fishing. I don't think any of the oil ports are big enough to swallow a washer. Getting a new head I think is.a little excessive. take a breather and come back at it with a fresh mind...... You'll find it. I have a small magnetic wand in my home.and portable tool box just for these type of problems

tried the magnetic wand and nothing so far, and down in that are of the head it is a large opening very easy for a washer to go

I personally have never seen the inside of a ca18 but if there is a hole in that head big enough to swallow a head stud washer I would be seriously surprised if it didnt lead directly to the oil pan. in other words, check the oil pan.

there is no way it could go through the pistons for one, and 2nd it was off the engine when it happened. Its inside the head itself.

We are not talking about going through the pistons. Lol there are oil drains in the head, and the block that go down to the oil pan. If the head is of, start shaking it upside down. If nothing comes up, strip the head down to its skivys and find it. If there is a way for it to go in, there is a way got it to come back out.

I can only assume that the valves are still installed and the washer is stuck in a valve spring.
