I'm having trouble removing the crank sproket thats between the oilpump and the main pulley for my ca18det. The motor is out of the car and was outside before, so i assume there is some rust thats causing it to be stuck. Right now i'm just sticking a bar inbetween the sproket and oilpump and try to hammer a gap between it. Then spray some liquid wrench and try to hammer it back in and start all over. I'm wondering does anyone know a method of taking it out? There are no treading on the sproket itself, so i can't use a puller of some sort.

be carefull on the oil pump ok?

a LITTLE heat can help.

if all else fails, drill two good deep holes in the thing and tap them for bolts. then use the bolts with a steering wheel puller to get that thing off. i have had to cut them off of vg motors before and replace them.
