Sup fella's, my brother has a 96 camry, 4 cyl auto, and his transmission is startin to take a **** on him. Since there aren't any good turbo motors from toyota that I know of that fit, how hard would it be to fit a ca18det into a camry?

could this be true? I always assumed rear wheel drive motors wouldn't fit in a front wheel drive

Well the MR-2 is just like a FWD car, turned around. The engine is still transversely mounted, just behind you.

Ahhhhhh, sure it is but on the back wheels, cool, thanks guys.

Oh wait, that motor is expensive though, would it still be cheaper than a ca18det, like after the istall

I know a little bit about it, and it is true, the 3sGTE engine will drop right in much like the SR drops into the 240. The only thing is you cant use either transmission RWD or AWD (you can use the AWD transmission but you have to take some parts off of it and get custom axles made) that comes with the motor. Fortunately the transmission that comes with the 94-99 Celica GT (any transmission that bolts up to the 2.2) will bolt up to the 3SGTE engine. The engine itself will bolt in using the existing engine's mounts. Go to http://www.6gc.net and check out their forums and FAQ, it should help you and your brother out tremendously.
