I don't know and seriously doubt if plenty of people have done the CA swap into a B12, but motor mounts do not have to be fabricated.pocketrocket wrote:OK, I've searched, and I know plenty of people have done this, but I couldn't find anything that completely answered my question (or maybe my searching skills are bad ).
I got a b12 sentra with a blown motor, and I want to do this swap. Is this a direct swap? Do motor mounts have to be fabricated or anything?
The transmission of choice is a 1988-89 Nissan Pulsar SE variant or that of a 1987-89 Nissan stanza.[/QUOTE]pocketrocket wrote: Also, what transmission should be used, since the sentra is FWD?
Dude, I'll be honest with you on the fact that it's not a cake-walk, but I don't want to deter you either. The pulsar and stanza trannies are choice because they are the only ones that have a bellhousing that mates to the CA block. In order to at least mount the engine into the car, you'll need all the pulsar SE's mounts, the pulsar's shift linkage, the pulsar's, clutch pedal and clutch slave/master, pulsar's axles (not the stanza's), and most importantly, someone who knows what in the hell they are doing. I hope this helps...............pocketrocket wrote:Thank you. I see you've done the swap on a 90 sentra, so that makes me feel pretty good about your response
So can I use the stock sentra mounts? or use the CA's mounts? Also, why is the pulsar/stanza transmission the "transmission of choice"? (just curious)
I am really wanting to do this swap, and it is my first time with such a large project... I just kinda want to know what I'm getting myself into. Either way its getting done, I just need to metally prepare myself haha.
Thanks a lot
I'll help you as much as I can, but I'll forewarn you, I used everything from the pulsar to make my DET swaps function back in the day like 1997-2001 and I swapped over to a standalone engine management system and I won't ever go back to burnt chips and the sort, I had JWT re-do the pulsar's ecu to accomodate the turbocharged engine and I few trials and errors, they did just fine. But by all means rattle my cage when you have issues, but keep in mind there are other FWD owners on this forum as well who can possibly assist you as well. Good luck on your search and stay tuned for a nasty CA18DET powered B12 that's near ready for duty once more.pocketrocket wrote:Haha.. I google searched, and it was all you. I guess you are the go-to guy for this particular swap then. Lucky me.
Well, I'm going to see where I can get the ca18det tmic swap for fairly cheap, and my junkyard happens to have a mechanically sound 88 pulsar
Hopefully you don't mind if I come to you with some questions when I start this project. Wiring seems to be the tricky part from what I read from your threads.

Hmm.. can't get that page to come up.. right link? From reading, I've heard the SR is a much harder swap though. I think this one will be difficult enough, but not too much out of reach. I'm determined!mbmbmb23 wrote:Check out this car on FA, 600 HP AWD sentra. If he can do it with an SR you can do it with a CA.

A swap from torontojdm.com says it comes with it.
And in my searching, I seem to have run across conflicts with what I actually need for the swap. I took in what you told me:
Pulsar/stanza transmissionPulsar/stanza mountsPulsar axles(Fuel Management System perhaps later)
And a motor swap on TorontoJDM.com comes with:
Engine BlockStandard RWD Transmission (I know I dont' need)
Ahh, OK, thats why the reflash is necessary. I will keep that in mind.boost_boy wrote:ECU - No, but I never used the RWD computer on my FWD car[\I]
