Couple of things...:

Im debating on whether or not to get some tein basics, or keep on saving and get a ca18det, aftermarket parts, and get them installed. My suspension sucks right now (front shocks bad), and Im getting tired of things rattling, shaking, and squeaking, but if I get the teins, I'll have to start all over from basically $0. If I get the ca18det first, Im gonna get all the aftermarket parts and get it installed before I do my suspension. I also got some energy suspension bushings waiting to go in. I might just install the bushings and see exactly how much they improve the ride or not and make a decision then.

Im also debating on getting an auto or manual ca18. I dont drag, autox, or drift. Im looking for a fun daily driver with some beefed up parts. I mean, how much slower is a turbo auto vs. turbo manual? I could build boost off the line (if I ever chose to "drag", and wouldnt it be less time for turbo spool-up in between shifts? I can drive manual, I just dont ever get time to practice...so I'd basically have to learn on the ca18det.

Whats you guys' opinions?

A manual transmission with be approximately 100 trillion times more fun to drive, IMO. I wouldn't even consider an auto, especially for a swap. You'll regret it later.

That said, and reading what you said, light suspension upgrades would be a better idea than a swap for daily driving. At least, I think it would yield a similar sized difference for a smaller pricetag.

Auto 4-banger=ick.

Go with the suspension upgrades now, and when you swap out, an auto-manual swap isn't hard at all (boywonder and I would know;))

i could accept an auto on a bigger engine, but with a 1.8 liter i would not.
