Hi everybody,

I was under the impression that auto and manual ecu's are different inside, therefor when doing a transmission swap -> replace the ecu. Well, that's what I did. But later on I sold the manual ecu and now only have the auto ecu. Are they the same? I mean can I use it with the 5spd?

and does it matter auto or manual ecu if I want to bur a custom rom into it? (i'd like to go 450cc injectors, n60 maf, t28 turbo, stock s14(!) smic)

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

- Tim

You can use the auto ecu and it wouldn't hurt a thing. The ecu doesn't care about shift points as that's what the transmission ecu is for. So plug it and play it.

what about misfiring and other stuff?

I also contacted Jason from e-mance, he tells me that he can convert the auto ecu to manual with their custom rom, which I believe is also available for free download in other places...I'm just to lazy to buy a flash programmer and chips to do it myself...lol.

What about misfiring? The answer I gave you is about as clean-cut as they come. Furthermore, it's free advice and from someone with more than enough experience with these motors and their accessories. Now, if you want someone to sell you something such as rom tune, then I would happily sell you a real standalone engine management system that will allow you further to tune to your specs ;). Take advantage of the free advice, my friend.

I trust your words :)

So I'll just plug it in and be happy :) If I beat my laziness => I'll try the whole rom tune thing myself.

I don't think I need and have enough money for a standalon ems at this point ;)

btw, I also have a stock ka24e ecu...can that be used for rom tuning with ca18?

With a little magic and knowledge, anything is possible.
