Hey people, Only just found this forum while searching for CA help. I just bought a 180SX with a CA18DET.

I have **** all power under 4k, when the turbo kicks im go's hard. But down low just have no power to even get up my driveway. I Checked all the eaths, vacume leaks, has new splitfire coil packs, iridium plugs. O'2 sensor was stuffed, so got a new one. Wired it in. Checked the ecu for fault codes. get a knock sensor and TPS code. hmm, so checked if the O'2 sensor is working on the computer, said it's working fine. I thought maybe the cat was blocked, so got under the car. and it's a fully welded in car, so cut it off and punched it out. ;p not sure where to go next.

the basics first. Compression check, tuneup, flush the engine etc.

If the TPS isn't working, the ECU is going to run like poo. Same with the knock sensor.

Download the FSM from the stickies and get your codes fixed.

Also, clean up all of your grounds.

Ok, got the TPS working. i think i found the knock sensor, i'll get a new one and see if that fixes it. or i'll bypass it. Anybody know how to do that? also, where is the EGR valve on the CA18DET? i have this pipe comming from behind the block to the turbo side, it's a metal line with a rubber hose on the end clamped off. is that somthing to do with EGR? It runs along with a water line for the turbo from what i can see. And, i have been told to block off a vacume line under manifold.. but they didnt say which one. Cheers! thanks for your help.

there is a like the one you are discribing and I do believe it is used as a mounting support for the turbo.... maybe a picture would help.

the vac line under the mani is on the TB and is very small, it was used to recir air post charcoal canister off of the exhaust side port for emissions

And kind sir the ca's don't have egr's ill look into the bypass of the knock sensor cause mine apparantly isn't hooked up either but my setup was on a running s13 already wired so being posted would help me as well cause it doesn't sound healthy to do so....
